Applicants are invited in all areas of Computer Science and Engineering. Applicants are expected to have a PhD by the time of joining in Computer Science and/or Engineering or a related field such as Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, Mathematics, and Computational Biology. Candidates are required to have publications in international conferences and journals of repute. Candidates with experience in coding competitions, innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship will be preferred.

Faculty are expected to do research, publish in the best venues in their field, adopt innovative educational practices in graduate and undergraduate education, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborate with students and faculty from other schools of Xavier University on innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship.

Xavier University Bhubaneswar ( grew out of one of India’s top ranked business school XIMB (Xavier School of Management) and has added Schools of Human resource management; Rural management; Sustainability; Communication; and Commerce. Xavier University is part of the international Jesuit higher education network and is the first Jesuit University of India. Xavier University Bhubaneswar is an important component of the Knowledge eco-system of Bhubaneswar, which has more than 15 universities and university like institutes including IIT Bhubaneswar, NISER Bhubaneswar, and AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Recently, Bhubaneswar was ranked number 1 in the nationwide smart city competition.

The Xavier School of Computer Science (XCOMP) is envisioned as a unique school that will leverage the high quality business programs of Xavier University and emphasize sound computer science fundamentals, coding, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and start-ups. The faculty will lead all of these. XCOMP is currently mentored by Prof. Chitta Baral of Arizona State University, Prof. Prasant Mohapatra of the University of California, Davis, Dr. Priyadarsan Patra, Senior Architect/Principal Technologist at Intel, USA and Dr. Ashutosh Dutta, Director at AT&T, USA . They and an additional set of mentors from India and abroad will mentor the faculty.

Faculty and Research

Faculty at XCOMP will be required to be involved in cutting edge research in Computer Science and Engineering and/or collaborative research with other disciplines. Faculty research will be of significant importance. All the faculty would be expected to build a strong research profile working with students at all levels – undergraduate, MTech, and PhD. The culture of research and a feeling of pride would be nurtured and developed aggressively. Involvement in a broad range of international activities will enhance the visibility of the school. Faculty encouraged to pursue external funding and industrial collaborations to sustain their research activities.
